Snow days are for inside projects

We are getting hit with some snow in Virginia today and super cold temps so its a great day for an inside project. My husband stays super busy with his job and business that he runs and is pretty much allergic to all things involving any of my little to do lists. However, he was very thoughtful this year for Christmas and bought me a gorgeous light fixture that I had been eyeing up at one of my favorite local antique shops, Circle A Antique Mall. http://www.circleaantiquemall.com/ Sooooo, its only fair that he should help me install it, right? I thought I'd go back and show the space where we hung the light fixture today to see what it looked like when we purchased the house. It never gets old for me looking back at these before pics of our house. A lot of times I find myself giggling, I don't know what the heck we were thinking sometimes! I came across a picture from 2014 when I took my dad down to the house and showed it to him for the first time. It would be 3 more years before we actually purchased it, but I wanted him to see it. He has restored a few homes himself and I knew he could give me an honest assessment. I remember being nervous about showing it to him. I've had some pretty hair-brained ideas throughout my life, but this one was up there. He was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the house and told me he could see why I was so interested in it. Little did we know that the house would be further trashed by trespassers (I won't use the word that he did, lol) in the time before we bought it. So the first two pictures are just a few months before we bought the house. My dad rebuilt the remains of the front door that is shown in this pic along with the railing that got destroyed.

And here is the same space today with my beautiful light fixture, rebuilt door, some paint and a just a few other touches :)
