🍁 Maple Leaf Farm 🍁

I've been wanting to name our farm since we bought it in 2017. Before we actually moved into the farm, we referred to it as the 'The Wheeler Farm'. Shortly after we purchased it, my husband knew I wanted to incorporate 'kleine frau' somehow into our life and he had a sign made that says 'kleine frau manor' with a picture of the Hohentwiel, Singen, Germany in the background. This is a castle in my dad's home town. While the sign was beautiful, it just didn't feel right for the farm. A few years later, I named my business 'kleine frau enterprise' which seemed so much more fitting. But still, no name for our beloved farm. Until this spring. One day recently, I was just soaking up the beauty of our property while taking an evening tractor ride with Jeff and it came to me. When I was pretty young, I asked my dad to build me a play house. He beat around the bush a bit and told me to draw what I wanted. Which I promptly did. I drew the cutest, most practical little play house. Just a little one room structure big enough for my sister and I to play house in. I gave the plans to my dad and he didn't say too much. Just took it in, like he always did. What my sister and I ended up with was probably the most fantastic play house two little girls could ever imagine. We had an old two story tool shed/ chicken coop on our farm that my dad had converted into a play house, which later came to be known as the doll house. The second floor became a haven for girl play. All things Barbie, dolls, house etc. It had a living room, 2 bedrooms with a bunk bed set in each and a deck across the back. My sister and I, along with all our friends, spent countless hours in this wonderful space. We had a sign at the bottom of the stairs that said 'Maple Leaf Inn'. This was our happy place. And as Jeff and I rode around our property that day, my now happy place, the farm was named. Maple Leaf Farm. I told my bestie the story and she made me a beautiful sign and gifted me a maple tree for my birthday this year.

Memories, moments and spaces are so powerful in our lives. Not all of these things are positive experiences for some people, but I was a very lucky girl. I had a wonderful childhood, two loving parents and an amazing sister. I am very blessed by the life that God and my family provided. 🩵
